1932SummerA trood of 6 young Whistelers was seen by Swanson at &icsburg, June 1~~
1935Summer Nest hunters found 2 Whistler f:J.Illilies in Cook Co1mty. Kenneth C rlander is first with a record of 7 younG unable to fly at "\!Test Bearskin Lake. He saw them on June 19th, whon they were only a couple of days old, and en June 21st when they could dive but could r:ot f:i.y. Prosser and Swodnonborg were at Christine Lake near Ccribeu ~~e on Juno 26th just at ~he right time to find a femnle with 22 young a week old• Dr. Roberts' book states that this tree-nesting species has eggs numbering 1/8-12, sometimes 15-18, the latter number probably due to tt..ro birds laying in the same nest. 11 The earliest 1935 Goldeneye nest was seen May 24th by Dobie. He submitted no further data on it.
1936Summer 1 E. D. Swodenborg saw a feL1a.le with seven yotmg June 4th at Lake Christeen, Cook County..Alden Risser nnc1 Olio Fischer1 s party saw several broods _of,small young no~th of E;l-y on July 7th. HOODED HERGANSER Alden Risser and Leander Fischer and party saw two broods; the first brood was seen July 7th,the second on July 9th north of Ely. 29 -The Flicker, 1936
1937SummerEight young were seen on Lower Red Lake, June 21, by G. Rysgaard, A. Risser, A. Evanson, and L. Pittelkow.
1938SummerEleven downy young Whistlers were found by Oscar Owre and Bob Upson in Beltrami County on June I?. On June 27 at Black­duck, Don Mahle observed 4 one-third grown young. At Lake of the Woods on July I4, G. Swanson met with a brood of 5 young.
1940SummerSix young and the adult birds were seen on Lake Vermillion, July 30 by K. Carlander. A single record.

Also reported from 18 additional counties in the central and eastern regions northward to Koochiching, 1-28 (2) (KL).

Also reported in Cook 1-5 (KMH), Scott, until 1/3 (mob) and Dakota 12-3 (TT).

1990Winter Roughly 1,500 birds wintered in the state, mainly on L. Superior and Mississippi R. where recorded from all counties from Stearns to Houston. Open water allowed birds to overwinter as far north as Koochiching GM and Cook KMH ; also on CBCs in FargoMoorhead and Aurora, St. Louis. 544 found on Excelsior CBC. Early migrants in Cottonwood 2/12 ED with heavy flight in SE along Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers last week ofFeb. (575 at Black Dog, Dakota 2/29 KB). Buffiehead December lingerers reported from: Otter Tail; Beltrami 12/5 DJ; Bemidji, Duluth, Bloomington, and ExcelsiorCBCs, Cook 12/17 (3) KMH; Anoka; Washington, Ramsey 12/2 PKL and Lake. Only Jan. records: 11/2

1991Winter Overwintered in the three counties along the North Shore including in the interior at Birch Lake Dam, Lake Co., in ten counties along the Mississippi and St. Croix Rivers as far north as Sherburne/Wright, plus Olmsted (Silver Lake), and Otter Tail (Fergus Falls). Additional reports from five south counties as early migrants in February, and three additional counties on CBC's (Lac qui Parle, Itasca, and Carlton; do these represent overwintering birds or late migrants?). The 1,350 reported on the St. Paul CBC increased to an amazing record 2,700–3,000 birds in late December KB, DZ. CBC total 1,665.

1992Winter Overwintered along the North Shore in the four northeast region counties (also inland records on the Isabella and Aurora CBCs, and at Birch Lake Dam, Lake County), plus 14 other counties along the Mississippi River as far north as Stearns, along the St. Croix River as far north as Chisago, and on the Minnesota River in Dakota and Scott counties. Numbers were low in these areas with only about 400?600 birds overwintering on the upper Mississippi River from Minneapolis to St. Cloud, and virtually none in St. Paul or at Black Dog Lake. Number on lower Mississippi R. south of Hasting unknown. Reports outside these regions included overwintering birds in Otter Tail (230) SDM and Olmsted. Also reported on the Bemidji and Fairmont CBCs (late migrants?). CBC total 667 (1,665 l.y.). No increase of reports in late February.

1993Winter Very large numbers overwintered along the Mississippi River from Elk River to Monticello, where 3,000 counted on a single roost on 1/10 Wright KB. Like last year, very few overwintered along the Mississippi River in St. Paul and Minneapolis, where most of the river remained ice covered. Reported from 13 counties along the Mississippi River from Winona to Stearns. Also reported over-wintering from Kandiyohi (2), Otter Tail (250 in Fergus Falls), inland in Lake Co. at Birch Lake Dam, and along the North Shore (four northeast region counties). Late migrants in north were 12/1 Becker BBe and 12/10 Beltrami DJo. Reported from Koochiching (no date) PKL.
