1934Summer One of the most important finds of the year:;.r was nesting gnatcatchers. On Mn.y 25th, a. bird was seen gathering nesting naterial near Clearwater by Hiaoenz. A nest with 2 youne about a week old and 3 addled eggs was fotmd bear St. Cloud by Hanson and Hiemonz on Jtme 17th. The youne left the nest when it wa.s approached on June 22nd. Details of these interesting records will bo published in a sepnrnte article.
1936Summer One of the year's prize finds \om.s the nest of this graceful little body by Dr. and Mrs., l11.hle• The nest wns discovered on May 16th ncar South St. Paul ond at this tline hold no eggs. On May 23rd when viewed by Alden Risser, f~nold Erickson, Don ~d l~s. Mahle and George Ryseaard, it held n total of five oees. Since 1$94 but one other ~ctual nest hns been reportGd, that being found at St. Cloud on Jtmo 17, 1934 by Jack Hanson and Nester Hiemenz. The nest contained throe addled eggs and t•w young.
1938SummerOn August I I Breckenridge and Berthel saw 2 adults but no young near Taylor's Falls.
1961SpringSeen 13 May by Avifaunal Club members near Whitewater Park. Observed building nest near Vasa by Brother Theodore on 11 May. Seen 30 April at Red Wing by Dr. Rysgaard.

1998Summer Probable nesting in Todd, Lyon, Nicollet, Rice, Olmsted. Seen in nine additional southeast and east central counties as far north as Chisago; plus Brown, Scott, Big Stone, Stearns, Aitkin.
1998Fall All north reports: 8/1 Crow Wing (2) PP, 8/12 Aitkin CMG, 8/16 Aitkin WN, 8/31 Becker (1) BBe, 9/8 Becker (1) BK. The absence of late fall reports from the North Shore of Lake Superior is unusual for recent years. Late south 9/7 Hennepin SC, 9/13 Anoka RH, 9/18 Hennepin LE and Houston mob.
1999Spring No south reports before the recent median arrival date (4/22). First reported 4/25 Brown JSp, 4/26 in four south counties. Unusual locations 5/8 Big Stone TEB, 5/9 Lac qui Parle (Boyd) FE. Early north 5/6 St. Louis (Park Point) ME, DG, 5/8 Clay (Moorhead) RO and Todd JSK, SDu. Also reported north in Otter Tail, Becker, Wadena, Cass, Crow Wing. Peak count 5/8 Goodhue (75) AH, PS.
1999Summer Most reports ever for this species. Recorded in 20 southern counties as far west as Lyon, Jackson; plus Kanabec, Todd, 7/4 – 8/1 Aitkin CMG, 6/10,26 Wadena PBi, 6/20 Clearwater ABo. New nesting record in Cass MRN, PP.
1999Fall North reports in Cass, Crow Wing, Grant, Otter Tail, and Todd through August, then 9/5 Otter Tail DST, 10/22 Cook †KMH (The Loon 72:53–54). The latter record continues this species' pattern of late fall reports along the North Shore (The Loon 69:106–107). It is a month later than the latest south date this season and it's later than all but one south date ever recorded in the state. Late south 9/16 Fillmore NO, 9/18 Dakota TT and Scott SL.
2000Spring Reported from 24 south counties beginning 4/23 Brown JSp. Early north 5/6+ Cass MRN, 5/13 St. Louis (Stoney Point) DBe. All other north reports: Douglas, Otter Tail, Becker, Wadena, Kanabec, plus 5/21–22 St. Louis (Park Point in Duluth) fide KE.
2000Summer A record high number of reports; the number of counties in which this species is currently found has roughly doubled in the past ten years. Observed in 26 southern counties as far west as Big Stone and Murray; plus Otter Tail, Wadena, Cass (10–12 pairs building 9 nests) MRN, Aitkin, Mille Lacs, and Pine.
2000Fall First county record 8/13 Polk (Maple Lake) †EEF. Also observed in Cass, Wadena, Kanabec, and two St. Louis locations: 9/12 (HRNR) FN, 9/17 (Park Point in Duluth) TPW. Seen in 19 south counties, including exceptional reports 10/28 (ties previous latest south date) Anoka †AWJ, and 11/15 Houston (near Reno) †FZL. Only other November record is 6 November 1994 in Cook! [Corrected]
2001Spring Observed in 34 south counties beginning 4/20 Brown, Steele and Dakota. Early north 4/28 Clay MO and Otter Tail SPM, DKM, 4/29 Crow Wing JPR, 4/30 Crow Wing (3) MRN, 5/1 Cass MRN, 5/5 Wadena PJB. All additional north counties: Douglas, Todd, Morrison, Kanabec.
2001Summer Observed in 29 counties as far west and as far north as Brown, Kandiyohi, Douglas, Polk (second county record, 7/14 †CRM), Hubbard, Cass (pairs at 8 locations) MRN, and Aitkin.
2001Fall Numerous north reports from North-central region and Otter Tail through early September, followed by the almost expected North Shore report: 11/2 Lake (Knife River) JWL, SL. Peak number 9/1 Dakota (16, Scharr's Bluff) TAT. No south reports after 9/22 Carver SWe and Olmsted PWP, 9/24 Dakota CRM.
