1971Springan adult male was disiovered on 4-26 by F. Kedney 7 mi. W. of Green Isle, Sibley Co.; the bird was seen by 21 observers and remained until 5-2; second state record.
1975Spring(REEVE) 1 report, fourth record for the state: 5-11 Lyon, Marshall Sewage Lagoons HCK (1 female).
1976Fall 2 reports: 10-2 Fergus Falls, Otter Tail Co. (1 breeding plumaged male) GO; 9-12, 13, 14 and 24 Marshall, Lyon Co. (3) H. Kyllingstad.
1977Summer A female present at Moorhead, Clay Co. until 6-4 was seen by many observers; formerly only accidental, this species is now well established on the Minnesota casual list.
1978Summer One seen 7-22 Otter Tail (GLO. Common Loon 50:211).

2001Spring Female (Reeve) observed 4/26 Dakota (Vermillion Twp.) †ADS (The Loon 73:246–247).
2002Spring Female 5/23 Dakota (L. Byllesby) †TAT et al. (The Loon 74:240). Second consecutive spring for this species in Dakota.

2015Fall1 The first fall report since 2003 was also a first county record: 8/8 Renville (Renville sugar beet ponds) ph. †MHe.
2018Spring1 An adult male was the first record in three years 4/25 Big Stone (Artichoke Twp.) ph. †DLP.
2018Fall1 Only report was a first county record 8/2 and then again 8/15 Freeborn ph. † PSu, † DWK, m.ob.
2020Summer1 Found 7/26 Big Stone (female, 6/5th Ave, Correll) ph. KJB.
2021Fall1 One report of this Casual species: 8/18 Freeborn (Albert Lea Lake) ph. †PEJ.
