1961Springreported only by R. Grant: two seen on 29 April near Lake Traverse and on 5 May one in the dark phase was seen in the same area. Rough-legged Hawk was seen as late as 21 April by Jan Green at Duluth.

1996Summer Nested in Big Stone; also observed in Polk, Lac qui Parle, Redwood, Washington, Dakota, Waseca, Mower, Winona.
1996Fall Late north 9/28 Otter Tail SDM, 9/29 Marshall PS, 10/6 Kittson PS and Wilkin SDM, plus three September sightings at HRNR, St. Louis Co. FN. All reports southwest: 8/18 Stevens KE et al., 8/19 Lincoln (3) TT, 9/14 Lincoln RgS, JAz, 9/21 Murray RgS, 8/24–9/22 Big Stone (peak of 4) LE. All reports southeast: 8/6 Dakota DBS, 8/17 Mower RRK, 8/20-9/9 Washington TEB, 8/31 Winona CS, 9/15 Scott KHe, JoW, 9/18 Dakota DBS and Anoka SC. Apparently left early, as median late south date is 10/2.

1997Summer Many reports, due to intensive research efforts; observed in 17 counties within normal range. New nesting records in Lincoln (five nests discovered) MMa, Murray (five nests) MMa, Waseca (one nest) MMa, Washington (one nest) MMa, TEB, and Winona (one nest) MMa; plus 12 nests discovered in Pipestone MMa.
1997Fall Reported from four north and six south counties. Peak 9/29 HRNR (9). Late north 10/9 HRNR (1) FN.
1998Spring Reported from 16 south and 2 north counties, including 4/20, 4/22, and 5/13 St. Louis FN.
1998Summer Recorded in Big Stone, Pipestone, Rock, Lyon, Cottonwood, Washington, Dakota, Rice, Goodhue, Olmsted; plus new nesting record in Brown JSc, CS.
1998Fall Reported from three north and six south counties. No reports after September.
1999Spring Arrived south later than usual (no March reports). Early south 4/12 Dakota DBS, 4/17 Fillmore BBr and Washington TEB. Unusual location and relatively early 4/7 St. Louis FN, DCa. Only one other north report!
1999Summer Reported in seven western counties plus Brown, Waseca, Dakota, Washington.
1999Fall Only north reports: Becker, Clay, Wilkin, plus more reports than usual from St. Louis (HRNR). Few south reports after August: 9/11 Jackson CMa, 10/2 Lyon (2) RgS, 10/9 Lyon RgS.
2000Spring Observed in total of 11 south and 4 north counties, mostly in the west. Early south 3/22 Freeborn ABa, 4/8 Lyon RgS and Lac qui Parle BL. Reported in May from Cottonwood, Rice, Ramsey, Washington, Dakota, Mower. All north reports: 4/22 Traverse RJ and Otter Tail EF, 4/27 Becker BBe, plus unusual location 5/2 (adult dark morph) and 5/16 (immature light morph) St. Louis (West Skyline Hawkwatch in Duluth) FN.
2000Summer Reported in ten western counties (as far north as Otter Tail) plus Kandiyohi, Dakota, Goodhue, Waseca, Steele, Mower.
