2006-09-262006-09-29Cass9/26-29 Cass (fifth state record) (first county record)
Fifth state record and earliest ever by more than a month 9/26–29 Cass (L. Winnibigoshish at Bena) v.t. †BAW; this cooperative juvenile was refound and photographed by m.ob., with written documentation also provided by PBB, PCC, PHS, DTT, and SMT.
684:32011-10-152011-10-27juvenile, Lubenow W.P.A.Swift(record #2011-035, vote 7–0). There were numerous high-quality photos of this bird. It was well-documented with 13 observers submitting documentation. The Committee did discuss the difficulty of distinguishing Purple Sandpiper from Rock Sandpiper at its 4 December 2011 meeting. The distinctly orange-yellow legs and bill base shown in numerous photos are more typical of Purple Sandpiper. There is virtually no documentation of inland wanderings of Rock Sandpiper (apparently, there is only one inland record away from the Pacific coast which is a specimen from British Columbia). This is the 6th state record and first county record for this Accidental species. Accepted

2011-10-152011-10-22Swift10/15-22 Swift (sixth state record) (first county record)
A juvenile discovered 10/15 Swift (Lubenow W.P.A.) DBM was documented and photographed by m.ob. It was last seen 10/27. Sixth state record.
784:1072012-03-17Split Rock Lighthouse State ParkLake(record #2012-003, vote 7–0). The photo is diagnostic. Interestingly, this is the seventh state record, first county record, and first documented spring record. The bird appears to be in first winter plumage. The conspicuous orange-yellow bill base and legs are consistent with Purple and not Rock Sandpiper. For a recent discussion of the rationale for excluding Rock Sandpiper as a possibility, see The Loon 84:3–4. Accepted

2012-03-17Lake3/17 Lake (seventh state record) (first county record)
Basic-plumaged bird photographed 3/17 Lake (Split Rock Lighthouse S.P.) HPi. Seventh state and first spring record for Minnesota.
88:32014-11-26Canal Park, DuluthSt. Louis(record #2014-055, first vote 4–3, recirculated vote 2–5). Photographed. Several members felt that some of the features, noted by the observer to be in the photographs, could not be clearly discerned. There was unease that other species such as Dunlin could not be completely eliminated. Not Accepted
888:912014-11-26Canal Park, DuluthSt. Louis(record #2014-055, initial vote 4–3; recirculated vote 2–5, The Loon 88:3–5; reconsidered vote 7–0). Photographed. This record was reconsidered based upon new photographic analysis. The analysis proved that the legs were not dark or black in the original photos but were, instead, within the spectral range of yellow to orange. This new information eliminated Dunlin so the Committee voted unanimously to accept the observation based on the written description and photographic evidence. Accepted
