The descriptions of this bird were not written until six months after the observation, apparently only from memory, and this is not acceptable for such an unprecedented sighting (i.e., no other records in the eastern U.S.). The descriptions are also incomplete, with nothing said of the bill color or shape, and only one of the observers mentions the key field marks of chin and wing colors. The bird's behavior (sitting on top of a 20-30 foot tree) and the habitat (“deciduous forest”) would also be atypical for this species. | Not Accepted | ||||
