Common in Mower County in the Spring season
One of four Eurasian Collared-Doves first found in Rose Creek on Sunday, December 17, 2006 by Jeff Morrison, Tom Hartman and me while participating in the Austin Christmas Bird Count. On a return trip on December 20, Bruce Lees and I found a total of ten in the same vicinity of the original sightings. Rose Creek is roughly eight miles SE of Austin. Take I90 east from Austin to State Hwy. 56 exit. Drive south on Hwy. 56 about four miles to Rose Creek. Birds were located on Oak Street between 1st and 3rd Street (south of baseball field/elementary school southside of Hwy 56).
