'Rare Regular' in Minnesota

Towering over the adjacent Herring Gulls was this adult Great Black-backed Gull at Canal Park, Duluth, 1 December 2009. At least 5 different Great Black-backeds (2 first-cycles, 1 second-cycle, and 2 adults) have been observed in the Duluth area since late October. An adult Lesser Black-backed and 2 adult Great Black-backeds were all seen together at Canal Park 19 November; single adult Great Black-backeds have been seen at Canal Park and the Superior Entry on several occasions.
