Red Phalarope in Faribault County

'Casual' in Minnesota - Five or fewer records in Faribault County for the Fall season

Wayne Feder discovered this Red Phalarope at the Wells sewage ponds on the morning of November 25, and it was seen by a few others as late as the afternoon of November 27. However, these ponds then froze overnight, and no one was able to relocate it on the 28th. Note the relatively short bill that is thicker at the base, the small pale area at the base of the lower mandible, and the solid gray upperparts devoid of pale streaking on the back.
