Uncommon in Cook County in the Fall season
This Townsend's Solitaire was feeding on mountain ash berries with a flock of juvenile Cedar Waxwings in the municipal campground in Grand Marais. I returned there this morning and spent hours trying to relocate him before posting this shot. I was hoping he would stay around so others could observe him... but he was nowhere to be seen. The waxwings continued to feed and the strong northwest wind of the last two days has brought in thousands of American Robins, flocks of Dark-eyed Juncos, White-crowned Sparrows and American Pipits.
