Black-bellied Plover in St. Louis County

Common in St. Louis County in the Fall season

One of two juvenile Black-bellied Plovers found by Mike Hendrickson on the beach near the Park Point Recreation Area. Winds were NE at 30 mph with gusts >40 mph producing heavy surf along the beaches of western Lake Superior. Waves up to 20 feet high were reported farther out on the lake. It's tempting to anthropomorphize the plover's expression as a response to the weather!
