Greater White-fronted Goose in St. Louis County

Uncommon in St. Louis County in the Fall season

One of four adult Greater White-fronted Geese (Anser albifrons) at Bayfront Festival Park, Duluth, St. Louis County, 11 September 2013. First found by Greg Garmer on the 9th, and most reliably seen in the late afternoon and early evening near the main stage. This species is rare at Duluth and along the North Shore of Lake Superior during spring and fall migration, but small numbers have been found more consistently in recent years. Observers may recall that two juveniles were at this same location 10/22-11/22/2012.
