Glaucous Gull in Dakota County

Uncommon in Dakota County in the Winter season

This afternoon on Black Dog Lake I observed an adult Glaucous Gull. This large stocky bird was very cooperative while it was bathing flashing its unmarked translucent wingtips. It had a flat crown, pale irides, a long yellow bill with a orange-red gonydeal spot and a pale grey mantle.
