Sharp-shinned Hawk in St. Louis County

Occasional in St. Louis County in the Winter season

This small Hawk has been hanging around Crane Lake birdfeeders since January 23rd. Purple Finches are abundant this winter with flocks as large as 100 birds. Pine Siskins have started gathering as well. Huge mixed flocks of finches including Pine Grosbeaks have descended on area feeders in numbers exceeding 300.
