Merlin in Hennepin County

Uncommon in Hennepin County in the Winter season

This Merlin was seen at Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters about 1:00pm Sunday afternoon. It appears to be the pale prairie subspecies, richardsonii, which is scarcer in MN than the taiga subspecies.
