Uncommon in Anoka County in the Spring season

This horned grebe was sharing the pond behind the Activity Center at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park with Mallards, Redheads, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, Common Loons, American Coots, Hooded Mergansers, Ring-necked Ducks, Canada Geese, Trumpeter Swans, and Pied-billed Grebes. Other birds seen in the park on the same day: Double-crested Cormorant, Barred Owl, Osprey, Turkey Vulture, Song Sparrow, Hermit Thrush, Black-capped Chickadee, American White Pelican, and Red-breasted Merganser. Heard but not seen: Northern Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker, Downy Woodpecker.
