'Rare Regular' in Minnesota - Five or fewer records in Lake County for the Fall season
This adult Lesser Black-backed was first spotted by Janet Green as it rested in the company of other gulls on an old dock in Agate Bay, Two Harbors. Note its "in-between" overall size relative to both the Herring and Ring-billed gulls behind it, the full adult bill pattern, and the mantle color. A pale iris is barely visible in the photo, and its yellowish legs (about the same shade as an adult Ring-billed's) were visible when it stood up.
